The short version

Browsing ShadeDial requires no account and sets no tracking cookies. The only personal thing we ever store is an email address, and only if you type one into an alert sign-up. You can have it deleted at any time by replying to any of our messages.

What we collect

Your email address — only if you ask for alerts
Stored with the campground you asked about, the site numbers you shortlisted, and your trip date if you gave one. Used to send that campground’s alerts and nothing else. We never sell it, rent it, or send you anything you did not ask for. Nothing is sent at all until you click the confirmation link.
Searches that found nothing
When you search for a campground we don’t cover, we record the words you typed. That is how we decide what to add next. No account or address is attached.
Anonymous page analytics
Vercel Analytics counts page views and referrers. It is cookieless and does not build a profile of you, which is why this site has no cookie banner.
IP address, briefly
Kept for a couple of days against the sign-up form, purely to stop someone using it to flood a stranger’s inbox. Deleted automatically after that.

Who else sees it

Three service providers, each doing one job: Vercel hosts the site, Neon stores the database, and Resend delivers the email. No advertising networks, no data brokers.

Getting out

Every message has a one-click unsubscribe, and your mail app’s own unsubscribe button works too. To have your address deleted outright rather than just unsubscribed, email support@shadedial.com and we’ll remove it.

Accuracy

Sun and shade figures are estimates from terrain and tree-canopy models, not measurements. They can be wrong, particularly where the forest has changed since the source data was captured. Treat them as planning guidance and verify conditions with the park.
